I love nothing more than telling tales to my younger colleagues about the “dark ages” of magazine publishing. Back when I had to plug in a recorder to my corded phone to capture interviews and then spend painstaking hours transcribing every word. Back when we used to get physical proofs of the magazine pages couriered to our office and I would bust out a red Flair pen to mark them up. Even way back when I was editor of my high school newspaper and we would literally cut and paste the printed columns onto boards for layout.
