Summary

What it measures:

  • Response to Stress Questionnaire (RSQ) measures stressor or domain-specific coping (primary control, secondary control, and disengagement) and involuntary responses to stress (involuntary engagement and involuntary disengagement).1
  • Respondents answer how many times a particular stressor has occurred in the recent past, how often they use coping mechanisms and how often they experience involuntary stress responses.1
  • RSQ can be completed by adults and children who are at least 9 years old. Parents also can fill out the RSQ regarding their own children's response to various stressor types and stressful situations.1
  • There are many variations of RSQ, targeting different stressors and specific domains of stress. Examples include but are not limited to COVID-19; Huntington's disease; TBI; pediatric cancer, pediatric pain and chronic illness.1 If you are interested in developing an RSQ for a new domain of stress, a request can be submitted to https://redcap.vanderbilt.edu/surveys/?s=C44X8JE43KA8N7NJ
