In 2019, APTA’s House of Delegates established the association’s position on the public health crisis of firearms-related injuries and deaths in the United States. Recent tragedies in a Buffalo supermarket and an Uvalde, Texas, elementary school make clear that this crisis continues.

Firearms-related violence is an unacceptable constant in this country, at a frequency and scale that must not be ignored. APTA calls on lawmakers to take action to address this American tragedy and protect our citizens and communities from experiencing more preventable trauma.
