American Physical Therapy Association CEO Justin D. Moore, PT, DPT, has announced the hiring of Drew Contreras, PT, DPT, as APTA's vice president of clinician integration and innovation, effective May 17.

In this new role as a member of APTA's senior team, Contreras will serve as the association’s lead staff for clinical integration, engagement, and support under its Scientific Affairs Unit. He also will lead on matters regarding clinical innovation and emerging practice patterns and provide insight and value to organizational priorities with a focus on clinical content strategy for APTA.

"I am pleased that Drew will be joining APTA," said Moore. "APTA's history is founded in the military, and his many years of exemplary service to our country in the U.S. Army give him experience that is well-suited to this organization and its mission. Drew has been an active and involved member of the association for nearly 25 years and has a strong knowledge of APTA and the profession. I am excited by the incredible experience and expertise he will add to our team, and I am sure he will continue to do great things here."

Contreras' career as a physical therapist spans more than 25 years. He has an extensive background in the U.S. Army and has received numerous military honors and awards for his exemplary service. He has served on a variety of professional boards, most recently holding the position of vice president of the Federal Physical Therapy Section of APTA.

Contreras is a board-certified clinical specialist in sports physical therapy.
