The American Physical Therapy Association has published an updated clinical practice guideline for physical therapist management of patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty, or TKA, for osteoarthritis. The guideline provides evidence-based recommendations for preoperative education, postoperative rehabilitation, strengthening, gait training, pain management, outcome measures, and other aspects of care to help PTs optimize outcomes for adults after total knee replacement.
