According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one in three adults in the U.S. doesn't get enough sleep. The associated health risks are significant: Insufficient sleep can worsen many chronic conditions and create hazards at work, on the roads, and even at home.

As movement experts who understand the importance of prevention and wellness, PTs and PTAs can help patients and clients make the connection between sufficient sleep and overall health. That's why the APTA House of Delegates adopted an association position that supports collaboration between PTs and sleep medicine professionals.

Here are recommended resources to help you gain a better understanding of sleep, sleep disorders, and the part PTs and PTAs can play in promoting this crucial component of good health.
