A new APTA report shows just how cost-effective physical therapy really is.
As senior director of operations for the Department of Rehabilitation Services at Bayhealth Medical Center, James Tompkins, PT, DPT, is often asked to assign a dollar value to the care his department provides. He does his best, which is to say he relies on his 30-plus years in the field to inform his calculations and arrive at a reasonable answer. Still, he notes, it's not an exact science — and for as long as he's practiced, it never has been.
