The COVID-19 pandemic has led to rapid and much-needed advancement in acceptance of telehealth as a treatment mode for PTs and PTAs. Many states have issued emergency rules allowing PTs (and in some instances PTAs) to provide telehealth services. Commercial insurers, state Medicaid programs, and Medicare also have authorized temporary coverage and payment for two-way, real-time interactive telehealth services furnished remotely by PTs and PTAs.
