Which areas of research are key to advancing the profession?
The recently published "Research Agenda for Physical Therapy From the American Physical Therapy Association" outlines six areas of research priorities that are vital to advancing physical therapist practice: population health research, mechanistic research, clinical research, education and professional development research, health services research, and workforce research. Editor-in-Chief Alan Jette and Jennifer Stevens-Lapsley discuss the history of previous agendas and how research priorities have evolved to "reflect the maturation of the science in our field." Stevens-Lapsley is co-author of the article "Research Agenda for Physical Therapy From the American Physical Therapy Association."
